Matchboxes have never looked this good. "Victrola (Red)" is a hand-painted pattern of open and closed matchboxes — "Henley Matches Est. 1994" in bold red, "Requiem" in blush pink, hunter green harlequin-lined boxes — all tumbled together on a deep burgundy ground. The motifs are large and painterly, packed with tiny still-life details: a pomegranate-headed figure in a green suit, silver-haired women in floral coats, bottles of St-Germain, clementines in a bowl. It's maximalist in the best way — a library wall, a powder room, a restaurant banquette nook — any space that wants to start a conversation.
